Im Rahmen des Projekts zero4cruise bei dem die Zielsetzung die Integration von Brennstoffzellen auf Schiffen ist, wird am DLR am Standort Stuttgart ein Hochtemperatur Polymerelektrolyt Brennstoffzellenstack mit neuartigem Konstruktionsprinzip entwickelt. Gegenüber konventionellen Brennstoffzellen weist die Geometrie der Membrane hierbei eine hexagonale Struktur auf. Zur Realisierung der Projektziele ist der Zukauf von Membran Elektroden Einheiten für den Aufbau des Prototypen Brennstoffzellenstacks vorgesehen.
