Le Groupe Chimique Tunisien (GCT) a obtenu de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) un prêt d’un montant de 110 millions de dollars des États-Unis (USD), garanti par la République tunisienne, en vue de contribuer au financement du Projet d’appui à la mise à niveau environnementale et à la réhabilitation des unités de production du Groupe Chimique Tunisien (PAER-GCT).
Ce projet contribuera à la réduction durable de la pollution atmosphérique dans les régions de Gabès, Skhira (Sfax) et M’Dhilla (Gafsa), à travers la réhabilitation et la modernisation des installations industrielles du GCT, ainsi que l’adoption de technologies permettant de réduire significativement les émissions polluantes, notamment celles de dioxyde de soufre (SO₂), de fluor et de particules fines.
