Well-Based Piped Drinking Water Supply Scheme

Village: Kandawani (Talaidbara)

Gram Panchayat: Dhurkuta

Development Block: Samnapur, District Dindori, Madhya Pradesh

Beneficiary: 65 Baiga Families

1. Introduction

A well-based piped drinking water supply scheme is proposed to provide safe and regular drinking water to 65 Baiga community families residing in the Talaidbara area of Kandvani Village, under Samnapur Development Block, District Dindori.

At present, the families in the village depend on traditional water sources for their drinking water needs. During the summer season, these sources experience reduced water availability, resulting in drinking water scarcity.

The existing village well will be cleaned, protected, conserved, and developed as a sustainable drinking water source. Safe drinking water will then be supplied to 65 Baiga families through a piped water supply system. The project proposes an integrated development of the water source, pumping, storage, and distribution system .

2. Need for the Project

Lack of regular and safe drinking water for Baiga families.

3. Main Objectives of the Project

To protect, conserve, and develop the existing village well.

To provide piped drinking water to 65 Baiga families .

To develop a stand-post-based water distribution system for community use.

To establish a safe water storage and pumping system.

To develop a sustainable and safe water management system for the rural community.

4. Proposed Activities

(A) Source Development and Protection

Cleaning of the well and removal of accumulated silt.

Safety and protection works around the well.

Improvement of the platform and drainage system.

Ensuring cleanliness and protection of the water source area.

(B) Pumping and Electrical System

Installation of 01 no. 2 HP submersible pump .

Installation of 01 no. starter panel .

Provision of approximately 40 metres of Texmo company cable .

(C) Water Storage System

Installation of a 10 KL capacity PVC storage tank .

Construction of a suitable platform for the tank and necessary pipe connections.

(D) Pipeline and Distribution System

Laying of HDPE pipeline.

Construction/installation of 15 stand posts .

Development of a safe water distribution system for the community.

Provision of necessary valves, fittings, and connections.

10. Conclusion
