Details
Swan Hill Rural City Council (Council) is undertaking pedestrian safety improvements within the Swan Hill CBD through the installation of raised pedestrian operated signals at three key locations.
The project forms part of Council’s program of infrastructure works and is intended to provide compliant pedestrian crossing infrastructure within busy urban areas. The works will be undertaken on existing road networks where maintaining safe access and minimising disruption to pedestrians, businesses, residents and road users will be important throughout construction.
Due to the specialised nature of the works, delivery requires a suitably experienced and Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) accredited contractor, with all works to comply with relevant DTP/TAC standards and requirements.
Background information / Compatibility requirements
Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to undertake pedestrian operated signal (POS) works at three locations within the Swan Hill CBD:
- Site 1: Beveridge Street – adjacent to Coles (Package 1)
- Site 2: Campbell Street – near the Commercial Hotel (Package 2)
- Site 3: Campbell Street – near Arc Expresso (Package 7)
Works are to be appropriately staged to minimise disruption to traffic movements within Swan Hill and to ensure that all affected areas are not restricted simultaneously.
Council’s preference is for works at Site 1 and Site 2 to be undertaken concurrently using separate resources, followed by the works at Site 7.
