De afdeling Bereikbaarheid en Verkeersmanagement heeft als primaire taak het optimaal geleiden van alle verkeersstromen in en door de stad. Het verkeer in en rondom Den Haag wordt vanuit de Haagse Verkeerscentrale gemonitord, geïnformeerd en aangestuurd. Dit gebeurt met behulp van een samenhangend netwerk van circa 250 verkeersregelinstallaties (VRI’s), 72 dynamische route-informatiepanelen (DRIP’s), ongeveer 1.510 bewegwijzeringsobjecten en 140 verkeerscamera’s. Deze wegkantsystemen vervullen een cruciale functie. Het goed functioneren ervan moet continu gewaarborgd zijn om zowel de verkeersveiligheid als de doorstroming op peil te houden. Het verkeersregeltoestel vormt een essentieel onderdeel van een VRI. Het doel van deze opdracht is het inkopen van verkeersregeltoestellen, inclusief de verplichting tot tweedelijns onderhoud gedurende de volledige levensduur van het toestel.
