Background information / Compatibility requirements

The proposed Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre (MBISC) has been identified as a host venue for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games and will be located within Moreton Bay Central which is a new mixed-use precinct being developed by City of Moreton Bay on the site of a former paper mill in Petrie.

MBISC addresses an identified service need and provides a fit-for-purpose facility that delivers a significant uplift in the number of indoor sports courts in Moreton Bay. The venue will enhance the local area, providing economic opportunities and enhanced amenity to a rapidly growing area of south-east Queensland.

MBISC will help to provide the following benefits:

1. increased local sporting opportunities and pathways;

2. healthier lifestyles and choices, providing improved local livability;

3. more cohesive, inclusive and safe community;

4. business attraction and local employment opportunities; and

5. positive Games experience for participants and spectators

The MBISC will be owned and operated by City of Moreton Bay (CMB), delivering a lasting legacy for the region through enhanced tourism, economic development, and increased opportunities for community engagement and active recreation.

GIICA has appointed a Principal Consultant to complete the Preliminary & Schematic Design (equivalent to approximately overall 50% complete design). The Delivery Contractor will be responsible for completing the design in accordance with the ITO documents and to achieve documentation suitable for construction and overall delivery of the Project.

Desired Outcomes ('Nice to haves', Conditions & Warranties, SLA's, Project benefits): This EOI is issued with the following objectives:

1. to engage a suitably qualified Delivery Contractor to deliver the Project;

2. to ensure high standards of probity, transparency, and compliance with all relevant government and operational policies;

3. to maximise commercial, social, and local benefits through the delivery of the Project; and
