De gemeente is voornemens een overeenkomst aan te gaan met een leverancier welke, op basis van koop, een nieuw en professioneel camerasysteem inclusief Video Management Systeem (VMS) kan leveren en installeren voor zowel het centrum van Ter Apel als aan de Ter Apelervenen in Ter Apel. Daarnaast dient er een service en storing overeenkomst (SLA) te worden aangegaan met betrekking tot de dienstverlening om het totale camerasysteem in optimale conditie te houden. Het cameratoezicht heeft als hoofd doelstelling ‘het handhaven van de openbare orde’.
