About the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Action Fund

The Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Action Fund (WPHF) has launched a new call for proposals to support civil society organizations in Burundi working to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. The initiative aims to strengthen organizations contributing to conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding while promoting the meaningful participation and economic empowerment of women and girls in crisis and conflict settings. Through its two funding streams, the WPHF seeks to support both the institutional capacity of civil society organizations and the implementation of projects addressing peace and women’s empowerment. What Funding Is Available?

The call provides two funding streams:

- Institutional financing: USD 2,500 to USD 30,000.

- Programmatic funding: USD 30,000 to USD 200,000.

Organizations should select the funding stream that best matches their needs and proposed activities. Institutional Financing Institutional financing is available from USD 2,500 to USD 30,000. This funding is designed to help eligible civil society organizations restore and strengthen their operational and institutional capacities. Support can help organizations reinforce their ability to continue advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda and respond effectively in crisis and conflict contexts. Programmatic Funding Programmatic funding ranges from USD 30,000 to USD 200,000. This funding stream supports projects designed to: - Improve conflict prevention. - Strengthen conflict resolution. - Foster peacebuilding. - Promote the inclusion of women and girls. - Advance the economic empowerment of women and girls. - Support women’s participation in crisis and conflict contexts. Projects should demonstrate a clear connection to the objectives of the call and the Women, Peace and Security agenda. Who Can Apply? The opportunity is intended for civil society organizations in Burundi working in areas relevant to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, women’s participation, and empowerment. Organizations should meet the applicable eligibility requirements and provide proof of their legal status as part of the application. Can Organizations Apply for Both Funding Streams? Yes. Applicants may submit one application for either one or both funding streams. Organizations applying for both streams must use the appropriate proposal template for each funding stream. Applicants should therefore ensure that the correct templates and supporting documents are submitted for each funding request. Application Requirements Applications must be submitted online by uploading the required documents through the provided application link. Applicants are required to include supporting documentation, including: - Proof of legal status. - The appropriate proposal template. - Other required application documents.
