Details

The Seeding Strength Grants provide financial support to young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and First Nations-led organizations dedicated to fighting injustice and building Blak power across Australia. Offered by the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA), these grants are designed to support urgent and impactful initiatives. Expressions of interest for the 2026 grants are open from 22 October to 8 November 2026. The Seeding Strength Grants aim to empower young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by providing financial resources to initiatives that address systemic oppression and specific injustices faced by First Nations communities. The program supports a range of activities, including truthtelling, decolonizing efforts, movement building, global solidarity, and planning for a Blak future. This grant program is crucial for supporting First Nations-led initiatives that work towards social change and justice. By empowering young leaders, it enables the development of sustainable projects that address critical issues within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Who cannot apply for these grants? Individuals or entities not identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or those working for non-Indigenous organizations. How will recipients be chosen? A panel of three First Nations individuals from the Governance Group will select recipients, prioritizing grassroots, First Nations-led initiatives with limited funding. What happens if my application is successful? Successful applicants will receive funding for the specified initiative and access support for governance and skills development. What if my application is unsuccessful? Unsuccessful applicants can receive feedback from the First Nations team to improve future applications. How can I get more information? Contact the First Nations team at firstnations@fya.org.au for more details. Eligible applicants should review the official guidelines and submit their expressions of interest by the specified deadline. For more information, visit the FYA Seeding Strength Grants page.
