The 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarships offer outstanding future leaders from Montenegro the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom. Applicants must meet nationality, work experience, undergraduate degree, university application and post-scholarship return requirements, including at least two years of eligible work experience and an unconditional offer from at least one approved UK course. 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarships for Montenegro Applications are open for the 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarships, the UK Government’s international scholarship programme for future leaders from eligible countries and territories, including Montenegro. The programme is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. It is designed to support talented professionals who demonstrate leadership potential and want to contribute to positive change in their home country. Chevening scholars undertake eligible master’s-level study in the United Kingdom while developing professional networks, leadership capabilities and knowledge that can contribute to their communities and countries. What the Chevening Scholarship Supports The scholarship is intended for candidates who want to strengthen their professional and leadership capacity through postgraduate study in the UK.

The programme focuses on:

- Leadership and professional development. - Postgraduate education in the United Kingdom. - International networking and collaboration. - Development of future leaders. - Knowledge and skills that can contribute to national development. - Building connections between the UK and participating countries. - Applying the experience gained in the UK to create positive change at home. Successful scholars are expected to return to their home country or country of award after completing the scholarship and contribute to its development. Who Is Eligible for the 2027–2028 Chevening Scholarship? Applicants from Montenegro must meet the applicable Chevening eligibility requirements.

Key requirements include:

- Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory. - Applicants must have at least two years of eligible work experience acquired after completing their undergraduate degree. - The required work experience is equivalent to 2,800 hours. - Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for admission to a master’s programme in the UK. - The undergraduate degree must have been completed at least two years before the scholarship application deadline. - Applicants must apply to three different eligible UK university courses. - Applicants must receive an unconditional offer from at least one selected course by the deadline specified in the Chevening application timeline. - Successful applicants must commit to returning to their home country or country of award for at least two years after completing the scholarship. Work Experience Requirement Work experience is a central eligibility requirement for Chevening applicants.

Candidates must demonstrate at least:

- 2 years of work experience - Equivalent to 2,800 hours - Acquired after completing their undergraduate degree. Applicants should carefully review the official Chevening rules regarding which types of work experience qualify and how different periods of employment or other eligible activities are calculated. Undergraduate Degree Requirement Applicants must have completed an undergraduate qualification that enables them to gain admission to a master’s degree programme in the United Kingdom. The undergraduate programme must have been completed at least two years before the Chevening application deadline. Applicants who have not yet received their physical degree certificate may still apply. However, they must possess the required degree certificate by the time of their Chevening interview. UK University Application Requirement Chevening applicants must apply to three different eligible UK university courses. This is an important part of the application process because candidates need to demonstrate that they have identified suitable postgraduate programmes aligned with their academic and professional goals. Applicants must subsequently receive an unconditional offer from at least one of their selected courses by the deadline specified in the Chevening application timeline. Montenegro Applicants and ODA Eligibility Chevening eligibility can depend on the specific award category associated with a candidate’s country or territory. For applicants applying for an award from an Official Development Assistance (ODA)-eligible country, the applicable requirements include residing in an ODA-eligible country and demonstrating a clear intention to support the country of award. Applicants should therefore verify the country-specific eligibility conditions that apply to Montenegro before submitting their application. European Overseas Territory Applicants Candidates who live in a European overseas territory may need to apply through the relevant Chevening award scheme for the European country of which they are citizens. Applicants should check the applicable country or territory-specific guidance before beginning the application. How to Apply for the Chevening Scholarship Applicants should prepare their scholarship application and university applications well before the relevant deadlines.
