The Finland Resilient Agriculture Landscape initiative supports the transition to regenerative agriculture in southern Finland during 2027–2029. The call provides up to €1.1 million per application for a full consortium that can deliver farmer training, advisory services, digital knowledge sharing, financial de-risking mechanisms, and measurement and verification of soil carbon removal. Finland Resilient Agriculture Landscape Initiative The Finland Resilient Agriculture Landscape is part of the EIT Food landscape portfolio and aims to strengthen agricultural ecosystems in southern Finland. The initiative focuses on restoring and improving soil health and soil function while helping farms become more resilient to environmental and economic pressures. The project connects regenerative farming with broader landscape outcomes, including: Improved habitats supporting the Baltic Sea ecosystem. Stable or improved farm-level profitability. Knowledge sharing among farmers and agricultural stakeholders. What Is Regenerative Agriculture? Regenerative agriculture is an approach to farming that aims to improve the health and function of agricultural ecosystems while maintaining productive and economically viable farms. Under this initiative, regenerative agriculture is linked particularly to: The Finland initiative therefore treats regenerative agriculture as a landscape-level transition rather than simply an individual farm practice. Project Period The transition to regenerative agriculture will take place over three agricultural years from 2027 to 2029. The multi-year approach is intended to give farmers and project partners sufficient time to implement new practices, measure results, assess economic performance, and share lessons with other stakeholders. The project seeks to:

Increase soil carbon removal per hectare. Restore soil function. Improve water quality. Reduce flood-related risks. Reduce the use of mineral fertilizers. Reduce insecticide use. Strengthen habitats that are important for the Baltic Sea. Economic Objectives Regenerative agriculture should also provide viable economic outcomes for participating farms.

Stable or increased farm profit margins at the farm-group level. Greater resilience to agricultural and environmental risks. Reduced dependence on certain external inputs. Financial mechanisms that help farmers manage the risks associated with transitioning to new practices. Who Is Eligible? The call requires applicants to form a full consortium. Rather than supporting a single organization responsible for only one part of the project, the initiative requires a consortium capable of delivering all required work packages. The consortium should collectively have the expertise, capacity, and resources necessary to implement a landscape-scale regenerative agriculture program. Consortium Requirements The consortium must be capable of delivering several interconnected areas of work.

Project management. Farmer training. Agricultural advisory services. Development of a digital knowledge-sharing platform. Financial de-risking mechanisms for farmers. Measurement and verification of soil carbon removal. Knowledge dissemination and stakeholder engagement. Applicants should therefore build partnerships that combine agricultural, technical, financial, digital, environmental, and measurement expertise. Key Work Packages Project Management The consortium will need strong coordination mechanisms to manage the different activities and participating stakeholders throughout the 2027–2029 implementation period. Effective project management will be important because the initiative combines farm-level interventions with landscape-level environmental and economic outcomes. Farmer Training and Advisory Services Farmers will require practical support during the transition to regenerative agriculture. Training and advisory services should help participating farmers understand and implement appropriate regenerative farming practices while considering farm productivity and profitability. Digital Knowledge-Sharing Platform The project must include development of a digital platform for knowledge sharing. The platform can provide a mechanism for sharing: Farming knowledge. Practical guidance. Project findings. Regenerative agriculture experiences. Monitoring results. Lessons learned. The objective is to ensure that knowledge generated through the initiative can reach farmers and other agricultural stakeholders. Financial De-Risking Mechanisms Changing agricultural practices can create financial and operational risks for farmers. The project therefore includes piloting financial de-risking mechanisms designed to support farmers during the transition. These mechanisms should help address barriers that could otherwise discourage farmers from adopting regenerative practices. Soil Carbon Measurement and Verification A major component of the initiative is robust measurement, reporting, and verification of soil carbon removal. The consortium must be able to establish credible methods for measuring soil carbon outcomes and verifying changes over the course of the project. This is important because carbon removal is one of the initiative’s key environmental performance indicators. Why the Initi
