La technologie des équipements GPON actuellement en place atteindra sa durée de vie utile prochainement et un remplacement est requis. La MRC doit donc procéder à l'acquisition d'équipements XGPON. Seuls les équipements demandés au bordereau de prix figurant à l’annexe 4 seront acceptés pour le rehaussement du réseau d’accès. Les équipements demandés permettront d’accueillir des connexions modem de type GPON et XPGON permettant une transition de technologie progressive.
