This section sets out the basic requirements for switch boards, electrical power wiring to individual motors and other equipments, control circuit wiring and earthing etc. Unless otherwise specified particularly the entire equipment shall be suitable for operation on 415 volts/240 volts. 50 Hz. Earthed neutral, three/single phase alternating current system as may be required. All components, accessories, raw material and finished parts used in manufacturing and assembly of switch boards, power and control circuit wiring and earthin g system shall comply with the relevant Indian Standards amended upto date. Where Indian Standards do not exist British The entire work shall comply with Indian Electricity rules and CPWD general specifications for electrical works. Particularly care shall be taken to ensure compliance to I.E. rules 41, 45, 51 and 3.1 The switch board shall be floor mounted front operated, free standing, totally enclosed, compartmentalized cubical type, rigid construction with no t less than 1.6mm. thick (16 Gauge) MS sheet or as specified in tender schedule. Wherever necessary steel member shall be stiffened with angle iron frame work. All bolts, washers, nuts, and screw shall be adequately galvanised. The design shall include all provisions for safety of operating and maintenance personal. 3.2 Bus bars shall be high conductivity aluminium with adequate cross sectional area so as to allow a current density not exceeding 100 amps. per sq.cm. The cross section of neutral bus bar sha ll be not less than the half the cross section of the phase bus bar. Bus bar shall be sleeved suitably. Bu s bars shall be adequately supported on insulators to with stand the maximum short circuit stresses likely to be encountered.
