The Data Coordinating Center for the Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Mouse Brain Atlas (AD-MBA) funding opportunity invites applications to establish a Data Coordinating Center that will integrate, manage, and share multiscale mouse brain datasets supporting research on aging and Alzheimer’s disease. The initiative aims to create a unified research resource that brings together multimodal datasets generated through the NIA AD Multimodal Atlas Projects (AD-MAPs). The Center will support data integration, collaborative research, visualization, and dissemination for the broader aging and Alzheimer’s disease research community.

About the Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Mouse Brain Atlas

The Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease Mouse Brain Atlas is intended to strengthen research by creating an integrated resource for studying changes in the mouse brain associated with aging and Alzheimer’s disease. The Data Coordinating Center will use the data infrastructure supported by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) AD Knowledge Portal to host, deposit, manage, and share datasets generated by the NIA AD-MAPs. By bringing datasets together in a coordinated research environment, the initiative will make it easier for researchers to access and analyse information across multiple biological scales. How Much Funding Is Available? The estimated total program funding is $2,500,000. The funding will support the establishment and operation of the Data Coordinating Center and its activities related to data management, integration, collaboration, analysis, visualization, and dissemination. Purpose of the Data Coordinating Center The Center will serve as a central resource for integrating and sharing multiscale mouse brain datasets.

Its activities will include:

- Hosting and managing multimodal datasets. - Depositing and sharing data generated by AD-MAPs. - Integrating datasets across different biological scales. - Supporting collaborative analyses. - Developing tools for multi-omics and connectomics data integration. - Providing online visualization capabilities. - Disseminating integrated datasets to the research community. The overall goal is to make complex mouse brain datasets more accessible and useful for research on aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Integration of Multimodal Brain Datasets The Center will bring together datasets generated using different research approaches. The integrated resource is expected to support analysis of multiple types of biological information, including: - Multi-omics datasets. - Connectomics datasets. - Other multimodal mouse brain datasets generated through AD-MAPs. Integrating these datasets can help researchers examine relationships across different biological levels and develop a more comprehensive understanding of brain changes associated with aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Support for Collaborative Research An important responsibility of the Data Coordinating Center will be to facilitate collaboration among teams contributing data to the AD-MBA. The Center will support collaborative analyses by providing coordinated data resources and tools that allow researchers to work with datasets generated by different projects. This collaborative infrastructure is intended to encourage broader use of AD-MAP data and support research questions that cannot be addressed using individual datasets alone. Development of Data Integration Tools The Center will develop and optimise tools designed to integrate complex datasets.

These tools will help researchers analyse and interpret data across different levels of brain organisation and biological information. Web-Based Data Visualization and Dissemination The Data Coordinating Center will provide a web-based interface that allows researchers to visualize and access integrated datasets.

The online interface will support:

- Visualization of integrated data. - Access to shared datasets. - Dissemination of research resources. - Exploration of multimodal brain information. - Broader use of AD-MBA datasets by the research community. The web-based platform will help make complex datasets easier to explore and use. Use of the NIA AD Knowledge Portal The initiative will leverage the existing NIA AD Knowledge Portal data infrastructure. The infrastructure will provide a foundation for hosting, depositing, and sharing multimodal datasets generated through the NIA AD-MAPs. Using an established data infrastructure can support coordinated data management and improve access to research resources across the aging and Alzheimer’s disease research community. Who Can Apply?
