General Information

Adani Power Maharashtra Limited’s (APML) Thermal Power Plant of 3300 MW Capacity (5 x 660 MW) is located in the state of Maharashtra at Tirora near Gondia. All units are with Su percritical Technology, driving efficiency in coal based power generation & with latest technology for environmental management with registration of the plant under CDM by UNFCCC.

APML produces approx. 4 Million Tons of Ash annually, ou t of which 80% is Fly Ash. APML has undertaken numerous initiatives towards Fly Ash utilisation generated during the power generation process and achieved fly ash utilization to the tune of 48% through supply of fly ash to cement plants in the region and other initiatives such as establishment of fly ash brick plant, educating and encouraging local farmers to utilise fly ash in agriculture etc.

The plant is equipped with latest polluti on control equipment such as high effic iency electrostatic precipitators, dust extraction & Suppression system and 275 M high chimney an d ensures that the emissions are within the prescribed permissible limits.

Presently APML ash is being utilized in Land development, Ash Dyke Raising, Road/Rail Construction, Brick/Blocks/Tile industries & Cement Industries etc. APML intends to increase its Ash Utilization by inviting Expression of Interest (EOI) from

interested parties for:

1. Bulk Transportation through BTAP/BCFC/BCCW rail wagons for cement companies. 2. Setting up Cement, Bricks / Blocks, AAC Blocks, As bestos Sheet plant and any other Ash based product manufacturing unit nearby Tiroda TPP. 3. Supply of fly ash, pond ash, fine & super fine fly ash for various other applications and to transporters. In order to facilitate bulk transportation of fly ash through Railway wagons, state of art facility for loading of dry fly ash from 6 x 1700 MT silos with underneath railway track has been developed at APML’s Tiroda thermal power plant. APML has already supplied fly ash through BCFC rakes to various cement plants in Gulbarga region in trial run. BTAP are side discharge wagons, being widely used for tran sportation of Alumina powder by Aluminum Industry. These wagon rakes are either owned by Aluminum Industry or are take n on lease from leasing companies. Ministry of Railway vide its circular dated 20-01-2017 has allowed fly ash transportati on through BTAP wagons and permissible carrying capacity for fly ash has been fixed to 60.36 tonne per wagon.

BCFC/BCCW are bottom discharge wagons being widely used for transportation of cement and fly ash by cement Industry. These wagon rakes are either owned by ce ment Industry or are taken on lease fr om leasing companies. Presently Indian Railways has two rakes of BCFC available for bulk transportation of fly ash & cement.

For receiving fly ash from BTAP/BCFC/BCCW wagons, cement plants will have to install suitable unloading facility such as compressors and pipe lines from railway siding to fly ash stor age silos etc. Interested transporter can also unload fly ash into closed tankers/bulkers through the mobile compressor system from BTAP wagons parked at railway siding.
