Die Stadt Essen plant die umfassende Umgestaltung des Weberplatzes im Stadtbezirk I einschließlich der angrenzenden öffentlichen Verkehrsflächen in der I. Weberstraße, eines Teilbereichs der Kastanienallee sowie der Wegeverbindung zur Grünen Mitte. Das rund 6.800 m2 große Plangebiet befindet sich in 45127 Essen.

Lots Lot 1 — Weberplatz Umgestaltung: Vorgesehen sind die grundhafte Erneuerung der Verkehrsanlagen in der I. Weberstraße und Teilen der Kastanienallee sowie die Neugestaltung der Freianlagen. Diese umfasst unter anderem eine Platzfläche mit Stadttribüne, Aufenthaltsbereichen und Fontänenfeld sowie eine barrierearme Erschließung durch Rampen-, Treppen- und Sitzstufenanlagen. Ergänzt wird das Konzept durch Entsiegelungsmaßnahmen, neue Begrünungselemente und die vollständige Erneuerung der Platzbeleuchtung.
