Les spécifications du chlorure de sodium sont définies dans la norme NF EN 16811-1 « Matériels de viabilité hivernale - Fondants routiers - Partie 1 : Chlorure de sodium - Exigences et méthodes d'essai » qui définit les spécifications techniques du chlorure de sodium utilisé comme fondant routier. Les caractéristiques demandées sont les suivantes : -Origine sel de mer -Classe A (avec teneur en Nacl minimum de 98%) -Granulométrie Moyen avec comme exigences supplémentaires : - le passant de tamis 1.6 mm devra être voisin de 40% (+/- 10%)) - le passant de tamis 3.15 mm devra être voisin de 70% (+/- 10%)) -Humidité Humide : teneur en eau entre minimum 2% et maximum 6% -Antimottant : teneur minimum à 15 mg/kg
