The Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) is inviting designers and creative professionals to propose a renewed visual identity for the Federation. The selected designer or team will receive a cash prize of RWF 1,500,000, an official FERWACY certificate, recognition at the brand unveiling, and an opportunity for further collaboration with the Federation.
About the FERWACY Visual Identity Competition
The FERWACY Visual Identity Design Competition seeks a modern, distinctive, and adaptable visual identity for the Rwanda Cycling Federation. The competition is intended to create a new identity that respects FERWACY’s heritage while reflecting its future direction and ambitions. The proposed identity should work consistently across different communication and branding formats, including digital platforms, print materials, broadcasts, cycling apparel, and outdoor applications. What Should the New Identity Represent? Design proposals should communicate key aspects of Rwanda and cycling.
The new visual identity should reflect:
- Rwanda’s national identity and pride - Cycling’s energy and movement - Unity among riders and communities - Sporting excellence - Integrity - Professionalism - Cycling development from grassroots participation to elite competition - FERWACY’s heritage and future aspirations The design should be visually distinctive while remaining flexible enough for different applications. Why It Matters A strong visual identity can help a sports federation communicate consistently with athletes, communities, partners, sponsors, media, and the public. The competition provides designers with an opportunity to contribute to the visual representation of Rwandan cycling and its development at both grassroots and elite levels. The winning identity is expected to be adaptable across multiple platforms and real-world applications. Who Can Participate? The competition is open to designers and creative professionals who want to propose a renewed visual identity for FERWACY. Participants may submit individually or as a team, where permitted by the competition requirements. Each participant or team should be able to provide the required design components and professional information with the submission. What Should the Design Include? Each submission must contain the core elements of a complete visual identity system.
1. Primary Logo
Provide the main proposed FERWACY logo. The primary logo should clearly represent the Federation and remain recognisable at different sizes.
2. Alternative Logo Layout
Include an alternative logo layout that demonstrates how the identity can adapt to different formats and spaces.
3. Colour Palette
Provide the proposed colour palette for the visual identity. The colour system should support consistent use across digital and physical applications.
4. Typography
Specify the typography or fonts that form part of the proposed identity. Typography should be appropriate for both communication materials and branding applications.
5. Supporting Graphic Elements
Include additional graphic elements that can extend the visual identity beyond the primary logo. These elements should help create consistency across FERWACY communications and promotional materials.
6. Concept Explanation
Explain the thinking behind the design. The concept should demonstrate how the visual identity communicates: - Rwandan identity - Cycling - Unity - Excellence - Integrity - Professionalism - Grassroots and elite cycling development - FERWACY’s heritage and future
7. At Least Three Mock-Ups
Participants must provide a minimum of three mock-ups showing how the proposed identity could be used in real-world situations.

The proposed identity should be:

How to Prepare the Submission
Participants should prepare the complete visual identity proposal before submitting it
Step 1: Develop the Brand Concept
Research and define a concept that connects Rwanda’s cycling identity with FERWACY’s heritage and future aspirations.
Step 2: Create the Visual Identity
Develop:
- Primary logo - Alternative logo layout - Colour palette - Typography - Supporting graphic elements
Step 3: Explain the Concept
Write a concise explanation describing the meaning and rationale behind the proposed visual identity.
Step 4: Create Mock-Ups
Prepare at least three visual mock-ups showing how the identity could appear in practical applications. Choose applications that demonstrate versatility, such as jerseys, social media, event branding, vehicles, banners, merchandise, or stationery.
Step 5: Prepare the Submission File
Submit the proposal as one PDF file.
Participants may also provide optional PNG or JPG previews
Step 6: Add Participant Information
The submission must include:
