About the CEFIPRA Collaborative Scientific Research Programme

The CEFIPRA Collaborative Scientific Research Programme is designed to bring together researchers from recognized institutions in India and France to undertake jointly developed scientific and technological research.

India-France Research Collaboration The programme requires projects to be jointly developed and submitted by Principal Collaborators from recognized academic or research institutions in India and France. Additional Joint Collaborators may also participate in a project. Their roles and responsibilities should be clearly defined in the proposal so that the contribution of each collaborating researcher and institution is transparent. This structure is intended to encourage meaningful scientific collaboration rather than parallel research activities carried out independently in the two countries. Research Areas Supported The programme supports a wide range of science and technology fields coordinated by CEFIPRA. Applicants must ensure that their proposed research falls within the science and technology areas identified under the programme. Proposals outside the identified areas will not meet the programme’s scope. Funding Available The maximum total budget available for a project is €220,000. This is the total budget for both the Indian and French sides for the entire duration of the project. The funding can be used for several categories of research expenditure, including manpower, recurring costs, international travel, and minor equipment for the Indian side. For Indian partners, funding can support:

- Junior Research Fellows (JRF) - Senior Research Fellows (SRF) - Research Associates (RA)

For French partners, support can cover:

- PhD positions - Post-doctoral positions This manpower component can contribute to the training and development of young researchers involved in the collaborative project. Recurring Expenses Funding can support recurring research expenses, including: - Consumables - Domestic travel - Miscellaneous expenses These resources can help research teams meet routine costs associated with implementing their joint research activities. International Travel International travel is also supported, allowing Indian and French collaborators to engage in research activities and collaboration across the two countries. International mobility can help strengthen scientific interaction and facilitate the development of long-term research partnerships. Minor Equipment for the Indian Side The programme also provides support for minor equipment for the Indian side. However, this component is subject to specific limits: - Minor equipment can account for up to 10% of the total project budget. - The maximum minor equipment allocation is INR 1,500,000. Applicants should ensure that equipment requests remain within both limits. Who Can Apply? The programme requires Principal and Joint Collaborators to meet specific institutional and professional requirements.

Eligible collaborators must:

- Hold permanent positions at recognized universities or R&D institutions in India or France. - Be affiliated with recognized academic or research institutions. - Provide their ORCID or Research IDs. - Submit their CVs. - Provide publication summaries. The collaboration must involve eligible researchers from both India and France. Principal Collaborators Each project must be jointly developed and submitted by Principal Collaborators from India and France. The Principal Collaborators are expected to provide leadership for the joint research project and coordinate the collaboration between the participating institutions. The proposal should clearly explain the scientific contribution and responsibilities of both Principal Collaborators. Joint Collaborators Joint Collaborators can participate alongside the Principal Collaborators. Their roles should be clearly defined within the proposal. Applicants should explain how each Joint Collaborator contributes to the scientific objectives, research activities, training, or other components of the project. Researcher Information Required Eligible collaborators must provide key professional and research information as part of the application.
