Call for applications: Regional Small Grants Scheme – Western Balkans

The Regional Small Grants Scheme, part of the #CredibleMedia4StrongSocieties project, invites applications from civil society and media organizations in the Western Balkans. This initiative, funded by the European Union, aims to bolster freedom of expression across the region. The deadline to apply is 6 November 2026. The Regional Small Grants Scheme is designed to empower local media and civil society organizations in the Western Balkans. It focuses on enhancing their capacity to monitor and advocate for freedom of expression, media pluralism, and democratic participation. The initiative supports activities that contribute to positive change and civic engagement within local communities. The scheme offers financial support ranging from EUR 10,000 to 20,000 per project, drawn from a total fund of EUR 450,000. The grants are intended to cover various project activities without requiring co-financing from the recipients. Approximately five grants will be awarded per country, depending on selection outcomes and available funds. Eligible applicants are legally registered, non-profit civil society and media organizations from the six Western Balkan countries. These organizations must demonstrate proven experience in freedom of expression and advocacy.
