Call for Applicants: Nigeria FSTP Sub-Grant under the CAI

The Corporate Accountability Initiative (CAI) is inviting applications from Nigerian civil society organizations and non-profit entities for a sub-grant supporting advocacy projects that strengthen corporate accountability and promote respect for human rights in Nigeria. One sub-grant of €10,000 will be awarded for a project lasting four to six months. Eligible applicants must be registered and operational in Nigeria for at least three years and demonstrate relevant experience in advocacy, policy engagement or corporate accountability.

About the Corporate Accountability Initiative

The Corporate Accountability Initiative is a collaborative programme co-financed by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of organizations, including the International Code of Conduct Association, TRIAL International and regional partners. The initiative focuses on strengthening accountability among economic actors, particularly private security service providers, for human rights violations occurring across value chains in Nigeria. The programme seeks to strengthen the ability of civil society and other stakeholders to promote responsible corporate conduct and respect for human rights. Purpose of the Sub-Grant The sub-grant is intended to support advocacy projects that contribute to stronger corporate accountability and human rights protection. Proposed projects should have a clear advocacy objective and seek to influence one or more areas such as: - Policies. - Laws. - Regulations. - Institutional practices. - Corporate behavior. - Corporate accountability mechanisms. - Respect for human rights. Applicants should demonstrate a clear connection between their proposed advocacy activities and the broader objective of improving corporate accountability in Nigeria. Funding Available

One successful applicant will receive:

€10,000 The supported project must have a duration of: Four to six months The funding is intended for a focused advocacy project rather than a general organizational support programme. What Types of Projects Are Eligible? Eligible projects must have a clear advocacy objective. Projects should seek to influence changes in policies, laws, regulations, institutional practices or corporate behavior related to corporate accountability and human rights.

Focus on Corporate Accountability and Human Rights The initiative places particular emphasis on the accountability of economic actors for human rights violations. A significant area of focus is private security service providers and their role within value chains in Nigeria. Applicants should therefore demonstrate how their proposed project addresses corporate accountability and contributes to stronger respect for human rights. Who Can Apply? Applicants must be:

- Registered in Nigeria. - Operational in Nigeria. - Registered and operational for at least three years. Organizations should also demonstrate relevant experience and have the financial management capacity required to administer the grant. Organizational Experience Requirements Applicants must demonstrate experience in at least one relevant area, including: - Advocacy. - Policy engagement. - Corporate accountability. Relevant experience should demonstrate the organization’s ability to design and implement an advocacy project and engage with stakeholders capable of influencing policy, institutional or corporate change. Financial Management Requirements Applicants must have a functional accounting system capable of managing project finances. This requirement is important because the successful organization will be responsible for appropriately administering the €10,000 sub-grant and managing project-related financial records. Organizations should therefore ensure that their financial management systems are functional and able to support transparent project accounting. Advocacy Objective A clear advocacy objective is a central requirement of the call.

Applicants should be able to explain:

- What problem the project will address. - What change the organization seeks to achieve. - Who has the power or responsibility to make that change. - Which policies, laws, regulations, institutional practices or corporate behaviors need to change. - How the proposed advocacy activities will influence those changes. - How the project will strengthen corporate accountability or human rights protection. A focused objective can help demonstrate that the proposed project is practical and capable of producing meaningful advocacy results within four to six months. Project Duration
