The Survivor Leadership Fund is inviting applications from survivor-led organisations and collectives in central and eastern Indonesia for unrestricted one-year grants supporting organisational growth and efforts to address modern slavery. Eligible organisations can receive up to US$20,000 for one year, with selected partners potentially receiving a second-year grant of US$25,000. The Fund supports organisational development, capacity building, programmes, staffing, office costs, technology, and community-level work addressing modern slavery and exploitation. The Survivor Leadership Fund was established to address the shortage of core funding available to survivor-led organisations working to end modern slavery. The Fund recognises the role of people with lived experience of exploitation in developing effective responses to modern slavery. Survivor-led organisations can use their experience and community connections to support people affected by exploitation and contribute to broader systemic change. The Fund therefore provides flexible, unrestricted support that allows organisations to determine how resources can best strengthen their work. The Fund is specifically designed for organisations in which people with lived experience play a meaningful leadership role. Applications are open to survivor-led organisations based and operating in the following regions: Organisations outside these specified regions are not within the geographic scope described for the Fund. At least one person in a leadership position must have lived experience of exploitation. This requirement reflects the Fund’s focus on survivor-led approaches and ensures that people with relevant lived experience are represented in organisational leadership. Applicants should clearly demonstrate how survivor leadership is incorporated into their organisation or collective. Organisations should be legally registered. Applicants should provide relevant organisational information demonstrating their legal status and their ability to receive and manage grant funding. Where applicable, organisations should ensure that registration information is current when submitting their application. The Fund allows anyone within the organisation to submit an application. The person submitting the application does not necessarily have to be the organisation’s senior leader. However, the organisation must meet the Fund’s survivor-led and geographic eligibility requirements. This may include communities affected by exploitation in sectors such as fisheries, seafood, and mining, as well as people experiencing internal migration associated with climate change. Applicants should clearly describe the communities they serve and the exploitation risks they seek to address. The Fund specifically identifies internal migration due to climate change as an area of interest. Climate-related movement can create additional vulnerabilities for people who may be exposed to exploitation or unsafe labour conditions. Organisations working with communities affected by climate-related internal migration may therefore align with this priority area.
