Details

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is seeking auction services for the disposal of vehicles through live and/or online auctions conducted from bonded warehouses, free zones, or other equivalent customs-controlled storage facilities.

UNHCR Global Disposal Services (GDS), part of the Global Fleet Management Section in Budapest, provides asset disposal services through auctions and logistics partnerships supporting UNHCR and other UN agencies globally.

Since its establishment in 2013, GDS has developed a global operational model for asset disposal and auction services that did not previously exist within the UN system. The service supports multiple UN agencies and has created measurable operational and financial value through efficient disposal processes and partnerships with auctioneers and logistics providers.

It is estimated that, over the next five years, approximately 286 tax-free vehicles may require disposal through such auction services for UNHCR alone. As UNHCR may also extend disposal support to other United Nations agencies in the future, the total volume of vehicles requiring such services may increase accordingly.

The following operational areas are considered key regions:

Middle East

Europe

South Asia

South America

Before you bid on this tender

A quick checklist to help you decide whether to bid and prepare a compliant submission for this transport & logistics opportunity. Always verify the details on the official source.

  • Confirm the exact closing date and time (and time zone) on the official portal — deadlines are strict and can be revised by a corrigendum.
  • Read the full notice and every attached document, including the scope, specifications and any bill of quantities or terms of reference.
  • Check the eligibility criteria — prior similar experience, annual turnover, certifications and registrations — and make sure you qualify before investing effort.
  • Prepare any earnest-money deposit (EMD) or bid security and the required formats early; missing or wrongly-formatted documents are a common cause of rejection.
  • Note how bids must be submitted (online or physical), in what format, and whether a digital signature or portal registration is required.
  • Watch for corrigenda and clarifications right up to the deadline — requirements and dates can change.
