Project Title:

Shand Cooling Tower VFD Motor Replacement

Scope of Work

SaskPower is seeking the supply and delivery of seven (7) VFD-rated electric motors for use as replacement cooling tower fan motors at Shand Power Station. These motors will replace existing cooling tower motors and must be suitable for operation on modern variable frequency drive (VFD) systems within a generating station environment.

Project Location:

The Shand Power Station is located approximately 10 kilometers southeast of the corporate limits of Estevan, Saskatchewan. Access to the Site is via an all-weather paved road connecting to Highway 18 & 39.

Project Timelines:

The preferred delivery date for all motors is February 15, 2027, to support planned installation activities during the 2027 summer and fall maintenance seasons.

Mandatories:

Must be able to provide seven (7) VFD-rated motors that meeting the following electrical requirements:

Rated Output Power: 250 HP (186.5 kW ±5%)

Voltage: 575 V, 3-phase, 60 Hz

Speed: 1,800 RPM ±5%

Number of Poles: 4

Full Load Current (FLA): 221 A ±5%

Locked Rotor Current (LRA): 1,460 A ±5%

Service Factor: Minimum 1.0 on inverter duty operation

Insulation System: Class F insulation or better

Frame Size: 449TS
