Informacijski sistem ePodatki je namenjen izvajanju stalnih nalog agencije na področju zbiranja, usklajevanja, obdelave, analitike, poročanja in prikaza podatkov. Podatki, ki jih agencija pridobi od operaterjev preko vprašalnikov, so podlaga za spremljanje razvoja trga elektronskih komunikacij, izvajanje regulativnih pristojnosti, podporo odločanju, pripravo analiz in strategij ter poročanje nacionalnim in mednarodnim institucijam. Informacijski sistem mora zato delovati zanesljivo, varno ter omogočati neprekinjeno, sledljivo in učinkovito delo vseh uporabniških skupin. Agencija je zakonsko obvezana posredovati podatke in informacije različnim institucijam (Evropski komisiji, drugim regulativnim in pristojnim organom ipd.), ki jih potrebujejo za izvajanje svojih nalog. Ob vsaki spremembi vprašalnikov mora skrbnik agencije iz četrtletnih ali letnih ali dodatnih vprašalnikov izločiti spremenljivke, ki jih ni potrebno več poročati oz. dodati druge spremenljivke za pridobitev podatkov (vrednosti) in informacij, ki jih je potrebno zbirati na novo.
