En el marc del Pla Educatiu d'Entorn, que és una iniciativa en què el Departament d'Educació de la Generalitat i aquest Ajuntament pel qual acorden un seguit de mesures que vetllen per la millora educativa de l'alumnat de Sant Adrià, es proposa realitzar un servei de mentoria dirigit a l'alumnat de secundària i de l'últim cicle de primària que presenten situacions de vulnerabilitat en la seva trajectòria educativa. El mentor, com a agent experimentat, ofereix al mentorat acompanyament individualitzat, ajuda, orientació i protecció en el procés de desenvolupament acadèmic i personal, i esdevé un referent positiu establint una relació de confiança i suport emocional. El nombre total de parelles seran vuit; quatre a l'Institut Escola de la Mina, i quatre a l'Institut Manuel Vázquez Montalban. Ambdós centres escolliran els quatre alumnes susceptibles de ser mentorats i l'entitat gestora del projecte, a les vuit persones mentorants. Es contempla la possibilitat que s'incopori algun centre més, en tot cas, caldrà restar la parella dels dos centres actuals.
