Village: Kapura , Gram Panchayat Gothra , Block Karahal , District Sheopur ,Madhya Pradesh

1. Introduction - Management of domestic wastewater (greywater) is a serious challenge in rural and semi-urban areas. Untreated wastewater often accumulates in open stagnant water sources, causing environmental degradation, foul odors, and breeding grounds for disease-carrying germs such as mosquitoes.

A leach pit (soak pit) is an economical, decentralized, and environmentally sustainable solution designed to safely dispose of greywater by letting it percolate naturally into the ground.

2. Objectives -

Safe Disposal: To ensure safe collection and disposal of domestic wastewater.

Health and sanitation: Eliminate waterlogging, thereby reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and malaria/dengue.

Groundwater recharge: To promote natural filtration and revive local groundwater levels.

Community awareness: Encouraging community participation in liquid waste management (LWM) under initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
