Job Description About Rise Up Together Rise Up Together (RUT) advances gender equity and justice in education, health, climate, and economic opportunity by partnering with visionary local leaders around the world. Through training, funding, and connection to a global network, RUT builds power with women, girls, and their allies to achieve meaningful, lasting change. Purpose RUT seeks an experienced Lead Facilitator and Trainer (individual or small team) to deliver a month-long hybrid training program for a diverse cohort of non-profit and grassroots leaders. The consultant will facilitate high-quality, inclusive, and engaging learning experiences; adapt content to the local context; and support participants in developing actionable systems change projects at the intersection of gender, health, education, climate, and economic opportunity to benefit women, girls, and gender-diver people in Maharashtra, India. Scope of Work A. Training Preparation & Curriculum Adaptation Review and adapt RUT's existing curriculum for Maharashtra context. Add local examples and case studies in English, Hindi, Marathi. Align session flow with diverse, multilingual cohort (25 leaders). Curate supplementary resources (readings, videos, reflection exercises). Coordinate with RUT staff on training design and logistics. B. Virtual Training Delivery Facilitate 6 virtual sessions (2 hours each, Nov-Dec 2026). Create participatory virtual learning environment. Introduce concepts: power-building, systems change, gender, leadership. Assign and frame pre-work for in-person Accelerator. Engage learners through Google Classroom perspective-building posts. C. In-Person Accelerator Facilitation Lead 6-day in-person workshop (12-17 Dec 2026, Maharashtra). Deliver sessions on: advocacy strategy, policy mapping, policy analysis, systems change project planning, individual and collaborative leadership development. Facilitate peer learning and cohort cohesion. Adapt facilitation in real time to participant needs. D. Coaching & Technical Assistance Provide 4-6 weeks follow-on coaching (Dec 2026 – Jan 2027). Review and provide written feedback on 7-10 participant project drafts. Provide verbal feedback to 25 leaders through individual/group sessions. Support participants in refining feasible strategies aligned with policy frameworks. E. Collaboration & Coordination Participate in regular planning/debrief meetings with RUT staff. Incorporate feedback into facilitation materials. Maintain weekly/biweekly check-ins with RUT leadership. Deliverables: Adapted session plans and facilitation notes. Contextualized examples and case studies for Maharashtra. Delivery of all virtual and in-person sessions. Written feedback on up to 10 participant projects. Post-training summary with reflections and recommendations. Eligibility Criteria The consultant(s) can be a qualified individual or a registered legal entity based in India or a team from an Indian business or organization. The selected consultant shall be engaged as an independent consultant and NOT as an employee. Consultant(s) should possess excellent training and facilitation abilities, including team building skills. Consultant(s) should have an innovative and creative approach to problem solving in group settings. The trainer/consultant can subcontract with topic experts if they assess a need for expertise in a specific training area. Qualifications Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience facilitating leadership and systems change trainings. Strong knowledge of policy and systems change processes, political structures, and state and federal laws affecting gender equity issues in Maharashtra, India. Strong understanding of intersectional gender equity issues across underserved and historically marginalized communities in Maharashtra, India. Strong understanding of effective participant-centered methodologies and training tools. Effective communication, presentation, and public speaking skills. Effective organizational and time management abilities. High degree of cultural humility in working with diverse populations, including marginalized and LGBTQIA+ communities in India. Strong background in gender equity, social justice, and/or climate justice. Experience working with diverse civil society and grassroots leaders. Familiarity with policy and legal landscape, especially in areas of climate, education, health and economic opportunity in Maharashtra, India. Skilled in participatory facilitation and adult learning methodologies. Ability to manage group dynamics across cultures, languages, and experience levels in discussion of complex and nuanced topics (e.g., gender-based violence).
