About Global Health Strategies Institute
About Project
Global Health Strategies Institute (GHSI) in collaboration with Tata Trusts is working on a strategic initiative towards strengthening and promotion of targeted fortification of food items under Social Safety-net programs such as 1) PM-POSHAN (formerly the Mid-day Meal Scheme) and 2) Take-Home Ration (THR) under the Supplementary Nutrition Program (SNP) of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme in select districts of Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, The focus of the project is to assess the two programs towards developing an implementation and scalable model.
The effort will also look to raise a policy discourse for increased interest and shifts towards strengthening the programs. Broadly, the overall objectives of the project are:
Evaluate existing THR and PM-POSHAN programs, with a specific focus on fortified foods in the programs in the intervention geographies.
Strengthening fortification efforts in the THR and PM-POSHAN programs in collaboration with state governments (in the intervention geographies).
Foster a collaborative and informed ecosystem for enhancement of THR and PM-POSHAN programs, engaging national and state-level stakeholders, and beneficiaries
