Details

NS overhauls its rolling stock fleet at, but not limited to, the NS Treinmodernisering workshop in Haarlem. After being in service approximately 15 up to 18 years both train interior and exterior is renewed. At that time also new electrical systems are installed and new functions are added. Existing electric cable is replaced and new systems are to be connected with cables and fully integrated. This is designed by NS engineers and -specialists.

NS expects several cabling projects in the coming years. In the near future NS Treinmodernisering will replace Low Voltage cable of Dutch Railways VIRMm1 fleet. NS also prepares for, and will fully overhaul, VIRMm4.

The Qualification system is divided into the following (3) categories :

1. Electrical ENGINEERING, design and production engineering

2. Railway CABLE, low voltage (LV) / high voltage (HV) / data cable

3. CABLE SYSTEMS (bundles) / -KITS, cable assemblies
