72100000 - Building and facility maintenance and repair services 72101506 - Elevator maintenance services DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENTS The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) seeks to engage an experienced contractor to supply, install, test and commission of 4 New elevators. The four elevators currently installed in the UNCC Building were commissioned in 1997 and have been in continuous service for more than twenty-nine (29) years. Due to their age, several spare parts and critical components have become obsolete or unavailable in the market. In particular, the existing control systems and other major components have reached the end of their expected service life and are increasingly difficult to maintain. Furthermore, a number of components have been phased out by manufacturers and replaced with newer technologies.. In addition to the challenges associated with the availability of spare parts and obsolete equipment, the existing elevators do not provide several essential safety and accessibility features, including appropriate facilities for people with disabilities, an Automatic Rescue Device (ARD), and Fireman's Operation.n addition to the shortage of spare parts, the existing elevators lack several essential safety and accessibility features, including facilities for people with disabilities, an Automatic Rescue Device (ARD), and Fireman's Operation. The combination of aging equipment, increasing maintenance difficulties, limited availability of spare parts, obsolete technology, and the absence of essential safety and accessibility features continue to present a significant operational and safety concern. Therefore, the need to upgrade the elevators remains urgent. Companies expressing interest should note that this Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) serves as pre-qualification of the companies that will be invited to participate in the tender process .Intrested firms will be invited to the tender by "Request for Proposal -RFP" at later stage and the detail requirement will be further specfied in the RFP document. …
