Photography Contest: Sofia: Old Europe, New Energy

The Sofia Tourism Administration | Visit Sofia invites photographers worldwide to participate in the “SOFIA: OLD EUROPE, NEW ENERGY” photography contest. This competition seeks to showcase Sofia’s unique blend of history and modern energy through visual storytelling. Participants have the chance to earn recognition, monetary awards, and see their work featured internationally. The application deadline is 25 October 2026. The “SOFIA: OLD EUROPE, NEW ENERGY” contest aims to highlight Sofia as a vibrant and historical city through photography. Photographers are encouraged to capture the essence of Sofia within four thematic categories: Historical Layers, Green Sofia, Cultural and Religious Tolerance, and City Vibe. Participants will receive an honorary certificate, and those whose work is selected will be awarded a financial honorarium of 150 EUR per selected photograph. Selected photographs will be exhibited at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Warsaw, with all printing and organizational costs covered. The contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers from around the globe who are at least 18 years old. Participants may submit up to four photos, one for each thematic category. This contest provides photographers with the opportunity to gain international exposure and contribute to Sofia’s image as a tourist destination.
