Lillestrøm kommune skal gjennomføre et parallelloppdrag for mulighetsstudie av Kjeller flyplassområde. Området skal transformeres fra militær flyplass til en ny bydel som kobler Lillestrøm sentrum med Kjeller tettsted. Mulighetsstudien skal belyse hovedgrep for arealbruk, mobilitet, blågrønn struktur, sosial og teknisk infrastruktur, klima og miljø, kulturmiljø og næringsutvikling, og skal danne grunnlag for kommende kommunedelplan med tilhørende konsekvensutredning.
