The Kunstwerk Carlshütte Cultural Initiative invites artists from around the world to apply for NordArt, one of Europe’s largest exhibitions of contemporary art. Artists from all disciplines can apply free of charge, with selected participants eligible for the €10,000 NordArt Prize, three €1,000 Public Choice Awards, and an invitation to participate in the following year’s exhibition. NordArt Contemporary Art Exhibition The Kunstwerk Carlshütte Cultural Initiative organises NordArt as a major international exhibition showcasing contemporary artists from different countries, cultures, and artistic disciplines. Each edition of NordArt introduces new curatorial perspectives, international collaborations, special projects, and artistic approaches. The exhibition aims to bring together diverse cultural viewpoints and contemporary art practices in a shared exhibition environment in Germany. Artists can apply regardless of nationality or artistic field, making the opportunity open to a broad international creative community. What Is NordArt? NordArt is a major contemporary art exhibition that presents works by artists from around the world. The opportunity is therefore suitable for both established and emerging artists whose work fits the contemporary art context of the exhibition. NordArt Prize and Public Choice Awards NordArt provides several forms of recognition for participating artists. The main award is the NordArt Prize, which has a value of €10,000. The prize is sponsored by Hans-Julius and Johanna Ahlmann and is awarded annually to one outstanding artist. In addition to the main prize, visitors to the exhibition determine three Public Choice Awards through voting. Each Public Choice Award is worth €1,000. Award recipients are invited to participate in the following year’s NordArt exhibition, providing an additional opportunity for continued international exposure. What Costs Are Covered? NordArt provides insurance for artworks during the exhibition period. This means selected artworks are insured while they are part of the exhibition, subject to the programme’s applicable conditions. Artists are responsible for transporting their works to and from the exhibition venue in Germany. Applicants should therefore consider transportation and logistics costs when planning their participation. Is There an Application Fee? No. Applications are free of charge. Artists can submit their applications through the available application channels without paying an application fee.
