Het Gemeenschappelijk Centrum voor Onderzoek (JRC) van de Europese Commissie in Petten is voornemens de bestaande luchtbehandelingskasten (LBKs) en de bijbehorende HVAC-infrastructuur in de gebouwen 308 en 309 te vervangen. De huidige ventilatiesystemen zijn verouderd en hebben het einde van hun operationele levensduur bereikt. Bovendien is uit voorlopige technische beoordelingen gebleken dat de bestaande luchtverversingscapaciteit ontoereikend is om een optimale binnenluchtkwaliteit voor de inzittenden te handhaven.
