The out-of-Québec supplement is awarded to the top ten applicants in each sector. Who Can Apply? The scholarship is open to individuals who hold or expect to obtain a university-level professional degree in human health. Applicants must also be members of a Québec professional order, association, or federation related to human health. The program also accepts applications from resident physicians recognized by the Collège des médecins du Québec who want to partially interrupt their clinical training to acquire research training.

Eligibility for Resident Physicians

What Type of Master’s Program Is Eligible? The master’s degree must be a research-based program leading to a thesis. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an appropriate research master’s program or planning to begin one within the program’s specified timeframe.

The following programs are not eligible:

- Professional master’s programs. - Programs that are exclusively part-time. The scholarship is intended to support graduate-level research training rather than professional coursework alone. Enrollment Requirements Applicants must have been enrolled in their master’s program for no more than three full-time terms before May 1, 2027. Applicants who have not yet started their master’s studies must plan to begin the eligible program no later than the winter 2028 term. These requirements are intended to ensure that the scholarship supports students at an appropriate stage of their research master’s studies. Applicants Transitioning Between Degree Levels Certain applicants who transition directly between degree levels may also qualify.
