Dublin City Council (DCC) is leading the development of the Dublin District Heating Project (DDHP) which aims to capture waste heat from industrial facilities on the Poolbeg Peninsula, and pipe it into homes, businesses and civic buildings in the Poolbeg, Ringsend and Docklands areas of Dublin city via a pipeline network. The primary heat source for the project will be the Dublin Waste to Energy (DWtE) facility at Poolbeg. The DDHP requires the installation of underground, highly insulated District Heating pipes. Site investigations are required to assess ground conditions along the proposed route which will inform detailed design. The total extent of the project as described in the site location map provided, has an approximate length of 6.6km. This site investigation works will be divided into the following Phases. Phase 1: Phase 1 is located in in the Poolbeg area and starts from the DWtE Facility and extends to the eastern boundary of the Irish Glass Bottle (IGB) Development. The length of the DDHP in this area is approximately 1 km. The specific works covered under Phase 1 include the following: • 15 Boreholes • 4 Slit Trenches • 4 Trial Pits Phase 2: Phase 2 extends from Seán Moore Road at the western boundary of the IGB site to the North Docklands area via Bremen Road, Ringsend Park, York Road to the North Docklands as far as Spencer Dock. The length of the DDHP in this area is approximately 5.6km.
