Details

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is undertaking this procurement to acquire 630 Euro VI (or greater) diesel buses to support the continued delivery of public transport services across South East Queensland and meet future service delivery requirements.

The Government is delivering more jobs and better services through a stronger economy and getting on with the job of delivering a modern bus fleet to keep South East Queensland moving. This investment will deliver 630 new buses across Queensland and replace ageing vehicles, boost reliability, improve accessibility and ensure the network keeps pace with a fast-growing State. The Better Bus Build will provide the vehicles needed to maintain service continuity across the State while creating a pipeline of work for industry and strengthening the capability of Queensland's transport network.

The procurement supports a transition to State ownership of the bus assets, enabling greater control, consistency, service continuity and long-term value for money. Each year in the South East Queensland transport network, approximately 200 buses reach the end of their service life and require replacement, with additional vehicles also required to support network growth. The buses are required to support annual replacement and growth fleet requirements over the three-year delivery period from 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030. This procurement will enable TMR to secure the required fleet volumes within the required delivery timeframe and support continuity of public transport services across the network.
