Renewable Energy for Resilient Agri-Food Systems (RERAS) project, led by UNDP Nepal and funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Embassy of Finland, operates in 11 municipalities across Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Bagmati Provinces. It collaborates with local governments, Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), ICIMOD, World Food Programme (WFP), LI-BIRD and other local organizations to strengthen sustainable agriculture, food security, and nutrition.
RERAS works closely with local governments to provide farmers with a suite of customized practices which includes the use of electricity for irrigation and to power machinery that supports post-harvest activities such as processing, storage, packaging, and marketing of local produce. By bridging the gap between traditional farming methods and modern solutions, RERAS is dedicated to ensuring an environment where food and nutrition security is not just an aspiration but a reality for every household.
The Ranka Tarafi Multistage Lift Irrigation Project is located in Wards No. 1 and 7 of Tatopani Rural Municipality, Jumla, Karnali Province. RERAS Project has been providing technical support and supervision for the required civil construction works and procurement of electrical equipment for multistage lift irrigation system. The project has been designed to provide irrigation facilities for a command area of 30 hectares.
