Die Stadt Essen beabsichtigt, den Barbarossaplatz im Stadtteil Essen-Stoppenberg (Bezirk VI Zollverein) einschließlich der angrenzenden Straßen Hallostraße, Schwanhildenstraße sowie Barbarossaplatz Ost und West grundhaft umzugestalten. Das Plangebiet liegt in 45141 Essen und umfasst rund 12.400 m2.

Lots Lot 1 — Barbarossaplatz Umgestaltung: Die geplanten Maßnahmen umfassen im Wesentlichen, die grundhafte Neugestaltung der Verkehrsanlagen (Fahrbahnen, ÖPNV-Anlagen, Rad- und Fußverkehr, ruhender Verkehr) sowie die Neuanlage der Freianlagen (Bürgerforum, Barbarossagarten, Promenade Barbarossaplatz Ost) mit Entsiegelung, Begrünung und Regenwasserversickerung. Ergänzend werden die Beleuchtung und eine neue Lichtsignalanlage errichtet sowie Fahrbahnsanierungen im Bereich der Schwanhildenstraße (westlich) und im Einmündungsbereich der Straße Schultenkamp durchgeführt.
