Die Stadt Eisenach beabsichtigt die Erweiterung des Ernst-Abbe-Gymnasiums am Standort Wartburgallee 60 durch einen massiven Erweiterungsneubau. Der Neubau wird parallel zur Grimmelgasse errichtet und schließt zweiseitig an die bestehende Sporthalle an. Das Gebäude hat folgende Hauptmaße: Länge: 55 m, Breite: 23 m, Höhe: 14 m, Anzahl der Geschosse: 3.Die Gründung erfolgt über Bohrpfähle, auf denen ein Tragrost aus Stahlbeton liegt. Die Baugrube wird mit einem Trägerbohlwandverbau gesichert. Die Konstruktion besteht hauptsächlich aus Stahlbeton, die Decken- und Wandbauteile werden in Ortbeton ausgeführt, ebenso der neue Aufzugsschacht. Treppenläufe und Podeste werden aus Fertigteilen bzw. Halbfertigteilen aus Stahlbeton hergestellt. Das Dach wird als Flachdach aus einer Stahlbetondecke mit umlaufender Attika ausgeführt.
