Am Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg wird ein universitäres Herzzentrum neu errichtet. Innerhalb des Klinikgeländes im Neuenheimer Feld im laufenden Klinikbetrieb des Universitätsklinikums Heidelberg, auf dem Gelände um die alte Kinderklinik. In dem neuen Herzzentrum werden die Kardiologie, die Angiologie, die Herzchirurgie, die pädiatrische Kardiologie, die Kinderherzchirurgie sowie die Kardio-Anästhesie des Universitätsklinikums Heidelberg zusammengeführt. Durch interdisziplinäre Kooperationen und Innovationen werden Synergien und ein Mehrwert in der Versorgung und der Forschung generiert. Unmittelbar in den Neubau des Herzzentrums integriert und funktional eng damit verbunden wird der wissenschaftliche Arbeitsbereich Informatics for Life (IFL). Durch Fokussierung auf das wissenschaftliche Rechnen in der kardiovaskulären molekularen Forschung wird Fortschritt in der personalisierten Herzmedizin in Deutschland realisiert.
