Die Universitätsmedizin der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz plant auf ihrem südwestlichen Gelände den Neubau eines Forschungs- und Laborgebäudes für das Helmholtz Institut für translationale Onkologie und Krebsimmuntherapie. Der Neubau HI-TRON bildet den Schlussstein der bereits fertiggestellten Reihe modularer Gebäude (PKZI/KTI/NIC) am Kilian Weg, im Südwesten des Geländes der Universitätsmedizin Mainz. Das Gebäude besteht aus einem rechteckigen Massivbau mit Untergeschoss, Erdgeschoss, 4 Obergeschossen und einer Technikzentrale im Dachgeschoss (5. Obergeschoss). In den Geschossen 1-4 wird der Neubau mit einem geschlossenen, verglasten Brückenbauwerk an den Bestand angeschlossen. Die Fassade besteht aus einer Lochfassade mit Einzelfenstern sowie vereinzelten PR-Fassaden im Eingang und Brückenbereich. Die Hülle wird mit einem WDVS-System gedämmt. Die Technikzentralen befinden sich im UG sowie im OG 5 als Dachgeschoss sowie in einem außenliegenden, frei bewitterten Technikhof. Abmessungen ca. 22 x 26 m; BGF ca. 4.400 m2; Größe Baufeld ca. 2.000 m2 Die Außenanlagen umfassen rund 1.350 m², eine bestehende Platane auf dem Baufeld ist zu schützen und zu erhalten. Die Freiflächen werden mit großformatigen Platten auf der Westseite zum NIC und mit Betonpflaster und Asphalt auf der Süd- sowie der Ostseite befestigt.
