Den barrierefreien Ausbau der stark frequentierten Haltestellen Arndtstraße wird bereits seit längeren von den Bürgerinnen und Bürgern gefordert. Für die Erneuerung der Gleisanlagen wurden 2020 erste Varianten für den barrierefreien Ausbau der Haltestellen Arndtstraße im Rahmen einer Vorplanung für den gesamten Streckenausbau der Großen Diesdorfer Straße untersucht. Der Ausbau des gesamten Streckenabschnittes der Gleisanlagen Große Diesdorfer Straße musste zurückgestellt werden. Für die Sicherung der Befahrbarkeit der Gleisanlagen wurden zwischenzeitlich Instandsetzungsmaßnahmen im Gleisbereich der Großen Diesdorfer Straße durchgeführt. Aufgrund der Dringlichkeit soll der barrierefreie Ausbau der Haltestellen Arndtstraße als gesonderte Maßnahme vor dem Gesamtausbau der Straßenbahnstrecke Große Diesdorfer Straße vorgezogen werden. Es handelt sich um ein durch Fördermittel finanziertes Projekt, sodass die ANBest-P den Vergabeunterlagen beigefügt wurde.
