At the end of their life cycle, these goods become eWastes, a hazardous waste stream due to presence of toxic metals such as mercury, lead, beryllium, cadmium etc., and they should be disposed-off appropriately to avoid environmental pollution. e-Wastes may also contain precious metals such as gold, copper and nickel and other rare materials of strategic value such as indium and palladium that can be recovered, as well as common plastics and glass. MINUSCA has accumulated quantities of e-Wastes and they are currently stored at premises across the mission. eWastes quantities will continue to increase with time, and they need to be disposed-off in compliance with internationally accepted environment-friendly practices. In this regard, MINUSCA intends to establish a long-term contract for the safe disposal of its electronic (e-Wastes) that are generated from its operations. ================================================================== La Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en République centrafricaine (MINUSCA) a déployé divers équipements électriques et électroniques dans différents camps et installations à travers le pays.
