Details

Daventry Town Council is preparing for the procurement of its future Environmental Services arrangements, with the current contract due to expire in May 2028. The Council is undertaking preliminary market engagement to inform its approach to the future procurement and to understand the capability, capacity and interest of potential suppliers. As part of this exercise, the Council is inviting interested suppliers to participate in a market engagement questionnaire. The scope of services is expected to include, but may not be limited to:

  • LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE to Council maintained open spaces, highway verges, residential areas and other sites to include: 247 acres of grass cutting, hedge and shrub maintenance, planting, floral displays, weed control, hard-surface maintenance, seasonal operations;
  • TREES / ARBORICULTURE - Routine tree inspections undertaken by an ArbCert tree inspector, arboricultural advice, planned/reactive tree works, emergency response and associated tree management;
  • PONDS, STREAMS, DITCHES & SUDS – Vegetation management, debris/obstruction clearance, maintaining water flow, inspections and reporting defects;
  • CEMETERIES / CHURCHYARDS & BURIAL OPERATIONS - Grounds maintenance, grave digging/preparation, cremated-remains interments, backfilling and grave reinstatement, associated cemetery operations;
  • ADDITIONAL LANDSCAPE ACTIVITIES - Hanging baskets, memorial gardens, floral/seasonal activities and other operational enhancements;
  • CLEANSING OF OPEN SPACES AND SPECIFIED TOWN-CENTRE AREAS, to include litter picking, sweeping, litter and dog-waste bins, fly-tip removal, fly-posting, graffiti/defacement, abandoned trolleys, leaf/blossom/fruit clearance, event cleansing, weed control and clearance;
  • PUBLIC TOILET FACILITIES (Welton Road and Market Trader) - Opening/closing, cleaning, restocking consumables, reporting defects/blockages;
  • LITTER & DOG WASTE BINS - Cleaning bins, responding to overflowing bins, replacement and installation of new/additional litter and dog-waste bins;
  • DAVENTRY MARKETS - Market-area checks, road closure/reopening, cleansing before/after market, operational support, reporting issues;
  • PLAY EQUIPMENT - Routine safety inspections, cleansing, minor maintenance and repairs, reporting defects, urgent response to safety issues, maintenance of surfacing, gates, fencing and associated features.

The appointed supplier/s will be required to dispose of all waste generated through provision of the services. The Council is considering how these services may best be structured and delivered, including whether they should be procured as a single contract, separate packages, or individual Lots. Feedback from the market will help inform the scope, commercial model and structure of the future procurement, and the development of the Council’s procurement strategy.
