The 1st International Competition “Charity Italy–Ukraine” (Sostenitori dell’Ucraina in Italia) recognizes and honors organizations, businesses, communities, and individuals in Italy who have provided humanitarian, financial, social, educational, or cultural support to Ukraine. The competition serves as the international stage of the National Competition “Charity Ukraine-2025: Charity in Defense of Ukraine” and provides an opportunity to express appreciation for people and organizations in Italy that have contributed to supporting Ukraine. It also seeks to strengthen the Ukrainian community in Italy and encourage cooperation among organizations, volunteers, philanthropists, businesses, and communities involved in Ukraine-related support activities.

About the Charity Italy–Ukraine Competition

The 1st International Competition “Charity Italy–Ukraine” is designed to recognize contributions made in Italy to support Ukraine and Ukrainian communities. The competition highlights different forms of assistance, including humanitarian aid, financial support, social initiatives, educational activities, and cultural projects. It recognizes both organized efforts by institutions and businesses and individual contributions made by philanthropists, volunteers, patrons, activists, and members of the Ukrainian community. Purpose of the Competition

The competition aims to:

Competition Nominations The Charity Italy–Ukraine Competition features four nominations, each focusing on a different type of contribution.

The four categories are:

- Philanthropist of the Year – Non-Governmental Organization - Philanthropist of the Year – Individual - Ukrainians – to their Homeland - Good things start with you Each nomination provides a distinct pathway for recognizing organizations, individuals, Ukrainian community members, and young people involved in charitable activities. Philanthropist of the Year – Non-Governmental Organization This nomination recognizes registered organizations providing systemic assistance to Ukraine. Eligible organizations may include charitable, volunteer, and public organizations that have established structured efforts to support Ukraine. The category highlights organizations whose work demonstrates sustained and systematic involvement rather than isolated acts of assistance. Philanthropist of the Year – Individual This nomination recognizes individual contributors who have played an important role in supporting Ukraine.

Eligible contributors can include:

- Individual philanthropists. - Volunteers. - Patrons. - Activists. The category provides recognition for people who personally contribute time, resources, organizational effort, or other forms of support to Ukraine. Ukrainians – to their Homeland The “Ukrainians – to their Homeland” nomination recognizes members of the Ukrainian community in Italy who implement initiatives supporting Ukraine. The category highlights the contribution of Ukrainians living in Italy who remain actively engaged with their homeland through charitable, volunteer, social, cultural, educational, or other initiatives. It also demonstrates the role of the Ukrainian diaspora in supporting communities and initiatives in Ukraine. Good Things Start With You The “Good things start with you” nomination is focused on children’s and youth initiatives. It recognizes young people involved in initiatives that: - Help Ukraine. - Support Ukrainian communities. - Promote charitable activities. - Encourage a culture of charity and social responsibility. This category highlights the role of children and young people in creating positive social change. Who Is Eligible? The competition is open to a broad range of contributors connected with Italy and Ukraine.

Eligible participants can include:

- Charitable organizations. - Volunteer organizations. - Public organizations. - Socially responsible businesses. - Individual philanthropists. - Volunteers. - Patrons. - Activists. - Members of the Ukrainian community in Italy. - Organizations or individuals in Ukraine that have received support from Italy. Applicants and nominees may therefore include both organizations and individuals.

Eligibility for Organizations in Italy

Charitable, volunteer, and public organizations registered or operating in Italy may be eligible when they provide assistance to Ukraine. Organizations can be recognized for humanitarian, financial, social, educational, cultural, or other qualifying support activities.

Eligibility for Businesses

Socially responsible businesses in Italy that provide support to Ukraine can also be considered. Business contributions may take different forms, including financial, humanitarian, social, educational, cultural, or community support.
