EcoRoots: Green Skills for a Sustainable Future is a European Solidarity Corps team volunteering project in Cyprus for young people interested in environmental sustainability, community engagement, and intercultural learning. The three-week project will bring together 20 volunteers from different countries in the village of Agros, located in the Troodos Mountains. Participants will take part in practical environmental activities, workshops, awareness campaigns, and community initiatives promoting sustainable lifestyles.
About EcoRoots: Green Skills for a Sustainable Future
EcoRoots is designed to give young people hands-on experience in environmental action while helping them develop practical green skills and strengthen their connection with nature and the local community. The project is based on the principles of: - Reduce. - Reuse. - Recycle. - Recover. Through these principles, volunteers will explore practical approaches to sustainable living and encourage environmentally responsible practices within the local community. When and Where Will the Project Take Place? The project will take place in Agros, Cyprus, within the natural setting of the Troodos Mountains. The volunteering project will run for three weeks, from: - 10 November to 29 November 2026 A total of 20 volunteers from diverse countries will participate in the project. What Will Volunteers Do?
Participants will be involved in a range of environmental and community activities
Activities include:
- Environmental workshops. - Awareness campaigns. - Community activities. - Promotion of eco-friendly practices. - Activities encouraging sustainable lifestyles. - Teamwork and intercultural learning. - Environmental awareness and sustainable living activities. The programme combines practical volunteering with learning opportunities so participants can develop both environmental knowledge and transferable skills. What Skills Can Participants Develop? EcoRoots focuses on developing practical green skills and broader personal competencies.

Essential participation-related costs are fully covered by the organisers.
The support package includes:
- Accommodation at Agrospito Traditional Guest House. - Three meals per day. - Two daily coffee breaks. - Travel costs within the limits of the EU distance calculator. - Local transportation. - Insurance. - €7 per day pocket money. This support allows selected volunteers to participate without having to cover the main costs associated with accommodation, meals, local transport, and other essential project expenses. Accommodation and Meals Volunteers will stay at the Agrospito Traditional Guest House in Agros.
The organisers provide:
- Accommodation. - Three meals each day. - Two coffee breaks each day. The accommodation and meal arrangements are included as part of the project’s covered participation costs. Travel and Transportation Support Travel costs are covered within the limits established by the EU distance calculator. Local transportation is also provided as part of the project support. Participants should therefore follow the organisers’ applicable travel arrangements and reimbursement requirements. Pocket Money and Insurance In addition to accommodation, meals, travel, and transportation support, participants receive €7 per day in pocket money. Insurance is also covered by the organisers for the project period. Who Can Apply? The project is intended for young people from the listed eligible countries who are interested in environmental sustainability and community engagement.
Ideal participants should be:

Previous experience in environmental work is not required. Is Previous Environmental Experience Required? No. Participants do not need previous experience in environmental work. The project is designed as a learning and volunteering opportunity, allowing participants to develop environmental knowledge and practical green skills through workshops, activities, and community engagement. English Language Requirement Applicants should have a basic level of English. English will help participants communicate with other volunteers, organisers, and members of the local community during the project. Diversity and Inclusion EcoRoots particularly welcomes participants from diverse backgrounds, including young people with fewer opportunities. The project brings together volunteers from different countries and backgrounds, creating an environment for intercultural exchange and mutual learning.
