Det skal anskaffes et overvåkningssystem basert på blant annet maritim radar, AIS og kamera. Utstyret skal kunne brukes i sanntid, og det skal samle store mengder data som skal analyseres av NTNU. Foruten overvåking av trafikk skal radaren også kunne brukes til måling av bølger i havoverflaten for å kunne gjenskape et digitalt bilde av havoverflaten innenfor en gitt radius.
