Details

Cabonne Council has been investigating options to:

- Improve water security and drought resilience;

- Ensure the availability of supply from the Molong Creek Dam to meet current and future town water demand; and

- Provide Molong, Cumnock and Yeoval with secure water supply to support the development of these centres.

The gravity main from Molong Creek Dam to the Molong Water Treatment Plant is a key component of the Molong Water Supply System. Sections of this pipeline were constructed in 1920 with various sections then added or replaced over time. This gravity pipeline is critical for the continued operation and security of the Molong WSS. Upgrades to this pipeline are proposed to improve the transfer capacity and operation including:

- Replacing a 9,300m section of the Molong Creek Dam to Molong Water Filtration Plant gravity raw water pipeline from a point known as Peter's Pit to a point known as Gabb's Pit. This section of the existing pipeline includes single and parallel pipes of various sizes and lengths; and

- Interconnections of the new pipeline to the existing pipeline/pipelines at Peter's Pit and Gabb's Pit; and

- Reconnection of existing customer services to the new pipeline; and

- Decommissioning of the existing pipeline/pipelines.
